Osaki Rakuza Project ‘Make music from recycled waste’

This workshop using recyclable trash to make musical instruments began as part of a new community initiative set up
by community building organization NEIGHBOR’S MEETING, NEWSED PROJECT,
Mitsui Fudosan Residential and SUUMO to revitalize the community. Mothers,
fathers and children living in Osaki came together helping to create a vibrant city that is loved by all.
Eight different instruments were made through four workshops.

Workshop 1: Mayonnaise lid and plastic container ocarina
Workshop 2: Bottle crown tambourine and PET drum
Workshop 3: Milk pack flute and steel can xylophone
Workshop 4: Bottle crown castanet and bottle cap bell

Instruments were made from recyclable trash, and participants enjoyed playing them on the spot.
A great time was had by all as people danced and juggled to the music of recycled waste instruments.
